Catherine Hallman Gunter WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Catherine Hallman Gunter, 92, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Dr. Alan Adams and Mr. Russell Laird. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James Whitten, Delphin Gantt, Jimmy Feaster, Coy Carter, Jimmy Richardson and Brad Youngblood. Memorials may be made to Green Hill Baptist Church Shut-In Ministry or the Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 6276, West Columbia, SC 29171. Mrs. Gunter, widow of Leon Hoyt Gunter, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Born in Leesville, she was the daughter of the late Walter Levi Hallman and Lillie Gertrude Smith Hallman. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church and a 1937 Graduate of Gilbert High School. Mrs. Gunter was a retired seamstress. During her many years of Christian services she taught the youth and senior citizens. She loved gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Merlyn G. Lewis of Meridian, MS and Nelda G. "Pat" Jackson (Frank) of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Charlene Lewis, Petal, MS, Wesley E. Lewis (April) of Meridian, MS, Jan Murphy (Roland) of Meridian, MS, Catherine Nadine Rosinski (David) of Starkville, MS, Frankie Jackson (Melanie) of West Columbia, SC, Rhonda Youngblood (John) of West Columbia, SC and Patrick Jackson of West Columbia, SC; step-grandson, Brad Youngblood; great-grandchildren, Katie Jackson, Taylor Freeman, Marshall Jackson, Lauren Youngblood, Jackson Rosinski, Lauren Lewis and Wes Lewis.
