Obituary of John Oeland

John Oeland West Columbia— John Oeland, beloved husband of Susan Eledge-Oeland, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Paul Oeland and Bennie Milam Oeland. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He was a graduate of University of North Carolina and an accomplished musician. John was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was very devoted to his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife Susan Eledge-Oeland of West Columbia; step-daughter Diane Riggins of West Columbia, sisters, Barbara Zoller (James) of Lexington and Peggie Albrecht (Mike) of Greenville; brother, Paul Oeland III (Sue) of Athens; mother-in-law, Louise "Ma" Johnson of West Columbia; lifelong friend, Keith Cooley of West Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wade Hampton High School Alumni Association, The John Oeland Music Scholarship, 420 Bright Water Lane, Greenville, SC 29609.
