William "Bishop" Hanna COLUMBIA: Funeral services for William "Bishop" Hanna, 92, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Bill Robertson and Major General William Grooms. The committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Hanna Cemetery, Lake City, SC. Serving as Pallbearers will be Tony Aull, William Aull, Ross Pait, Robert Pait, Jimmy Hanna, Jr., Shane Hanna, Richard Ricard and Billy Grooms. The family will receive friends from 9 until 10 a.m. Thursday, prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the India Fund, Rev. Carlisle Hanna Account, c/o Columbia Original Free Will Baptist Church, 1230 S. Kilbourne Rd., Columbia, SC 29205. Mr. Hanna, widower of Addie Mae Cooper Hanna and Josephine Cotton Hanna, died Monday, July 25, 2011. Born in Florence County, SC, he was a son of the late James Davis Hanna and Lorena Coker Hanna. Mr. Hanna was retired from the SC State Hospital and Palmetto Baptist Hospital. In his younger days he was an accomplished basketball player. Mr. Hanna was devoted to his family and his Lord. Surviving are his daughters: Sonya U. Smithart of West Columbia, and Pansy S. Aull (Bruce) of Gaston, step-daughters, Louise Grooms (Bill) and Linda Williams both of Columbia; sons, Freddy Hanna (Rachel) of Columbia, Jimmy S. Hanna, Sr. of West Columbia and Terrell U. Hanna of Martinez, GA; sister, Angie Haseldon of Lake City; brother, Rev. Carlisle Hanna of Charleston, SC or New Delhi, India; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
