Obituary of Karen Dowd

Karen Bozard Dowd GASTON—Funeral services for Karen Bozard Dowd, 58, of Gaston, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Sandy Run Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Robert W. Hawkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Audie Haigler, Pat Conner, Eddie Ott, Troy Stevenson, Martin Phipps, Brad Bozard, Ken Willis, and Gary Dugger, Jr.. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Ms. Dowd passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011. She was the daughter of Emmie Wolfe Bozard of Sandy Run, and the late Lawton Leroy Bozard. A lifetime resident, she was a member of Sandy Run Lutheran Church and retired from Lexington School District Four. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her mother, are her son, Henry Dowd (Paula), and grandchildren, John, Calvin and James Dowd; as well as sisters, Joan Phipps (Jim) of Sandy Run, Linda Dugger (Gary) of Sandy Run, and Elaine Ott (Charles) of Sandy Run; brothers, Harry Bozard (Linda) of Swansea and Donald Bozard of Sandy Run; former husband, William S. Dowd. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Felicia Haigler and Helen Ridgeway.
