Obituary of Ernest Tarbox

Ernest Merrill "Ernie" Tarbox PHOTO WEST COLUMBIA—Ernest Merrill "Ernie" Tarbox, 77, born in Asheville, NC. He peacefully passed away at Palmetto Richland hospital on December 4, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Donald and Juanita Tarbox and a brother, John Tarbox. He retired from the United States Postal Service and later owned and operated Ernie's Card Shop at Richland Fashion Mall. He enjoyed playing golf, breakfast with the guys, spending time with his family and being an active member of his church. He served as Chairman for the Pastoral Parrish Committee. As a 48 year member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church, he served in many areas and took special interest in the children's ministry. Ernest was a loving husband, father and devoted Christian who shared God's love with all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Helen Riddle Tarbox of West Columbia, SC; son, Ernie & Kim Tarbox of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Tamela T. & Robert Snyder and Mary & Randy Cox all of Lexington, SC; seven beautiful grandchildren, Austin & Justine Cox, Dillon Cox and Spencer Thomas all of Lexington, SC, Brandi Cox of Charlotte, NC, Emily and Sarah Tarbox of Charlotte, NC, Tori & Clint Carter of Ehrhardt, SC ; great-grandchildren, John Thomas Foggo of Charlotte, NC, Taylor Lyons, Amelia Carter, Colin Carter all of Ehrhardt, SC; loving brothers, David & Betty Rose Tarbox of Myrtle Beach, Bobby & Joey Tarbox of Green Mountain, NC and three loving sisters, Mary and Joe Roberts of New Ellenton, SC, Polly and Mac Alexander of Aiken, SC and Claudia and Bob Tisdale of Thurmond, NC. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Platt Springs United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Becky Shirley. Entombment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
