July 20th, 2015 will be remembered as a sad day for me for the rest of my life! The day my dear sweet Aunt Dianne's lovely spirit left this earth in an attempt to end her sorrow and all her pain.
I have had so many mixed feelings and emotions; emotions of anger, hurt, sadness and wondering WHY?
I ask myself, how could someone who loved life more than life itself and be loved by so many be in so much pain that it ends like this?
Seeking God's guidance and asking WHY; I still don't have the answers, but I do know that our God is an AWESOME God. His word says in Hebrews 13 V 5:
Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you.
All I can do is stand on those words through this difficult time and know that God has everything under His control.
What has been the easiest thing through this whole process is what I'm doing now, sharing the good qualities of Aunt Dianne!
The very first thing God brings to mind; is the fruits of the Spirit which can be found in Galatians 5 verse 22. I believe God had Aunt Dianne in mind when he gave these words to Paul to pass down to us.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These were all qualities Aunt Dianne had and she always lived by them with the GREATEST of them being LOVE!
I can't help but think of the sadness and pain she must have been feeling in the days, hours, minutes and even seconds leading up to that horrible moment.
Thinking of this horrible day I have been convicted while searching for comfort from Gods word and asking myself, "Could I have done something to stop this?" I was lead to share the following from one of my past sermon notes I found in my bible.
DON'T LET YOUR FEELINGS DICTATE YOUR ACTIONS. IF YOU ARE NOT IN NEED OF ENCOURAGEMENT THEN YOU SHOULD BE BUSY ENCOURGING OTHERS. ENCOURAGE IN TRUTH AND IN LOVE.
The day before the incident, Sunday evening I was looking at pictures of her from one of our last outings together. We were so happy that day boating down river, going through rapids, bumping into other boats, people watching, And now I ask myself was that God nudging me to call her? Why wasn't I obedient?
Romans 15:4 tell us
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope."
I wish I had called to share some hope that night!
I can hear Aunt Dianne singing: My Savior Loves, My Savior Lives, My Saviors always there for me! My God He was, My God he is, My God He'll always be!
Then in her soft-spoken voice say to me, Starr, "Jesus wants to look good and what makes Him look good are His servants. Don't wait to be served, but be a servant!
Having chosen the career path she did, and meeting all the people I met last night at visitation it is very clear to me that she made Jesus look good!
I want to encourage you to seek the autographs of a servant and not those of this world. Get to know them! I'm so thankful I have so many of her autographs in books of encouragement and life's lessons that she shared with me both as a child and as an adult. I will treasure each one of them forever and work harder to pass on her legacy and that is to LOVE others as Jesus loves us.
I love you Aunt Dianne and will miss your laughter and your smile. I will miss those beautiful deep brown eyes with those beautiful eye lashes. I will miss those times you called me and said, "Hey Little Starr, how are you?" I will never hear "Starrty Warty ever again! Rest Rest until we meet again!

To The Family of Dianne, I have many memories growing up of Dianne and her sister Betty Jo visiting Grandmother Lockharts in Polkton. I always thought she was the sweetest and kindest person I had ever met. Our paths did not cross very often mostly seeing each other at family funerals, but she was always the same sweet Dianne. God bless each one of you in the weeks and months to come. Karen Lockhart Nance

Betty Jo, Bruce and all the family, My heart is saddened to learn about Diane. She was such a beautiful person with such an angelic personality. We all were friends of her Aunt Sarah and Uncle Robert Hardin, we loved them for so many years, as well as all of Diane's family, Clara and Boss and Betty Jo and her family. We played together as children, before they moved to Columbia. Over the years, it seems we only saw each other at funerals of our loved ones, but when we did see each other, it was as if no time has passed and we were just as close to each other as we were as children. She was so special and my heart breaks for all of you. Please know that all of you are being lifted up in our prayers during the weeks and months ahead. God Bless each of you. Our love and prayers, Nancye Hammond, Rebecca Ghent and Rachel Robinson

To Bruce and family, we are so deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear about Dianne. May you find peace and comfort in the coming days. She was a very beautiful lady who was always so sweet and loving to me over the years. Many fond memories. I was so glad that Cindy got to meet her at the recent family reunion at Annette and Randy's. I am on the road, on my way to Ohio, and saddened that Cindy and I will not be able to attend the service for Dianne. She and the family will be in our thoughts.
