Obituary of Michael Ray Lee
Michael Ray Lee passed away on March 27th at the age of 66 years old.
Michael worked as a horticulturist at the Governor’s mansion under four governors. He was in the graduating class of 1975 at Airport High School and graduated from Midlands Technical College Horticultural Program. His hobbies included going to garage sales, drawing, bicycling, and singing in the choir. He was beloved by his many friends and family; he was generous and giving to everyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His greatest passion was his love of Jesus Christ. He believed in Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Because of his belief, we know that Mike is now in Christ’s presence along with his parents, Ruby and Kenneth Lee, who predeceased him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Dora Lee, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jessee, who loved and treated him as a son. He also leaves behind his sisters Kathy McKay (Sonny Motley), Cindy Morris (Henry), and Donna Metts (predeceased by her husband Larry). He is also survived by two nephews, David Marshall and Robert Lee Metts, and two nieces, April Boice, and Jennifer Pound, as well as many other relatives that he loved deeply.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 4th at First Baptist Church in the Boyce Chapel from 12pm until 1pm. The service will begin at 1pm, also in the Boyce Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to First Baptist Church.
