Obituary of Mary Cecelia Keenan

Mary Cecelia “Cissy” Keenan passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022 with family by her side. Cissy was a beloved daughter of Frank and Mary Keenan. Cissy was the thirteenth of fourteen children.  Named after our mother, Cissy has always held a special place with our family and her loss is greatly felt.   

Cissy graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington NC. In October, 1990 Cissy moved to South Carolina where she lived in Batesburg, Leesburg, and Lexington. The entire Keenan family wishes to give special thanks and our sincerest gratitude to Cissy’s caregivers and nursing staff with the Babcock Center SC organization. Words cannot express our eternal gratitude for the love and care that was afforded our cherished sister. You’ll be forever in our hearts! Cissy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank T. Keenan, Sr. and Mary Hickey Keenan; her brother, Robert J. Keenan; brother-in-law, Steve Ulsh; and sister-in-law, Cindy Keenan. She is survived by loving siblings; Tom(Lechon), George, Mary Mayberry(Jeff), Teresa Ulsh, Pat Sauer(Steve), Fran Tabor(Steve) Anne Osborne(John), James(Janet), Frank, John(Shelley), Mike(Diane), and Maggie Ives(Boney) and many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  

A visitation and service will be held in Columbia, SC at Thompson Funeral Home on December 10, 2022. Visitation at 12:00pm, service at 1:00pm.  Services will be held in Wilmington, NC on December 16, 2022 at St. Mark Catholic Church. 1:00pm visitation and 2:00pm Funeral Mass.
