Obituary of Muriel Macy Brandon

Muriel Macy Brandon, 86, went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2021, after many years of declining health.  A graveside service only (no visitation) will be held on Friday, April 16th, at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Born March 14, 1935, in Normal, Illinois, she was the daughter of William Gardner and Ella J. (Porter) Macy, and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Macy of Normal, and of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Porter of Merrimac, Massachusetts.

She attended Illinois State Normal University for two years, intending to be a nurse, before leaving for a job in Chicago, where she worked for twelve years with Bible Truth Publishers (Oak Park and Addison, Illinois).

After marrying Charles Brandon, her husband of thirty-five years, she came to Columbia, SC.

She was a gifted seamstress, equally adept at men's and women's attire, including full wedding gowns, of which she created several as a young woman.

As the nurse said during her last hospital stay, "Mama was feisty!"

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (2002) and her youngest son Robert Brandon (2016).   She is survived by two sons, John Brandon and David Brandon of Columbia, SC.

She was a member of the Plymouth Brethren, a non-denominational group of Christians.
