Obituary of Edna Chassereau Hull

Funeral services for Edna Chassereau Hull, 86, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Airport Baptist Church, 1269 Boston Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. Pastor Ed Lynch will officiate. Interment will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday in the Ellen Cook Hull Shaffer Cemetery in Varnville, SC, where Deacon Ed Devore will officiate. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the funeral service in the church sanctuary. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Edna Hull passed peacefully away March 14, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hull was born September 11, 1934, in Grays, SC. She was the daughter of the late Canie and Tinnie Smith Chassereau. She was married to the late Emmit Hull for 60 years. She is survived by her daughters, Terry Hull (Pat) and Libby Hull Key (David); granddaughters, Landy McCall (Adam), Melissa Reigel (Donnie) and Lindsey Key (Kirk), and a loving great grandmother to 6 girls. She was one of 9 children, and is survived by sisters, Ruby Avant, Daisy Breland and Maude Harvey; brothers, Rufus Chassereau and Eugene Chassereau and predeceased by brothers Oregon Smith, Hoyt Chassereau and Harold Chassereau.

Mrs. Hull worked in the banking industry the bulk of her career and retired from the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. She was a faithful member of Airport Baptist Church, having served as WMU Director, Sunday School teacher and treasurer, and deeply loved her church family.

Edna’s greatest legacy is her love and devotion to her family. She was instrumental in leading her family and numerous friends to know the love of Christ.
