Words cannot express the amount of gratitude that I have for Chris. Since I met him back in my sophomore year of high school, every encounter I had with him expanded on my world view. Truly a one of a kind person. I was able to share one of the best memories I could have ever asked for over the beginning of 2018. We were at our almost weekly Midnight IHOP when news released that the Professional League of Legends Championships were coming to Miami and it just so happened to line up with our Spring Break. It was a nightmare trying to plan the trip, we had very little money between all of us, we couldn't find lodging for a long time, let alone convincing all of the parents to let us go. But it was truly the most memorable 3 days I could have asked for. We all packed up into Darren's grandparents SUV that Friday morning and made the 14 hour drive down to Miami. Every 4 or so hours we would switch off driving while we attempted to run a D&D campaign in the backseat. Chris offered to drive the 9 hours straight from Jaxsonville to Miami in exchange for me to drive the entire time we were in the city. When we finally got there, we still had no idea of what we were doing, only an address to an AirBnB.
When we got into the room, we all agreed to rotate between the cots and the couches they had available. The next morning, when we attempted to make breakfast, we realized they didn't provide any pots or pans for use. Christopher and Darren were determined to cook, so they took the removable top off the toaster oven and preceded to cook bacon and eggs on this aluminum tray they removed from the toaster oven. We then made our way to the convention center over two hours in advance standing outside waiting for the venue to open. Chris and Corbin stood around cracking jokes and entertaining everyone in the muggy heat of early morning Miami beach as we waited. For two and a half hours, the two of them entertained most of the people around as the sun got hotter. The heat didn't seem to phase Chris as he made it his mission to keep everyone entertained.
When we got inside the convention center, Chris preceded to chug 3 bottles of water for both entertainment and refreshment, but only after ensuring that everyone else in the group got plenty of water. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet these players who we idolize. The weekend itself was unforgettable, and Chris made the most out of every situation. He made bad times better and good times memorable. This is just one of the countless stories I could tell about Chris and the energy he gave to his friends and family. Truly a one-of-a-kind person who undoubtedly help shape everyone he met.
