Obituary of Gracie Middleton
Ms. Gracie Middleton was born on September 7, 1925 in Lugoff, South Carolina to the late Mr. Lewis Lyles & Mrs. Gumima Harrell Lyles Bell. She was eldest of five children born to this union and was the last known survivor. She departed this earthly journey on October 11, 2020.
Ms. Middleton was educated in the public schools of Columbia, SC. She worked for many years as a self-employed housekeeper.
Ms. Middleton was baptized at Brookland Baptist Church of West Columbia, SC and was an active member. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and cooking. She always welcomed family, friends, and neighbors to her home with open arms. For everyone, it was another place to call home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Middleton, and three children: Minnie Hearn, Andrew Landrum, and Jesse Lyles.
Ms. Middleton leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughter, Koskkoke V. O’Neal; two sons, Raye (Sylvia) and Okaloacochee Middleton; special granddaughters, LaTesa S. Isler and LaKoskski S. Williams; devoted & loving caregivers: great-granddaughters, Raven Williams, Robin Williams, Faith Williams, and Ebouni (Rodric) Moultrie. She will be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and a host of friends.
