Obituary of James T. Gentry, II
James Tuck Gentry II, 60, of Lexington, SC died on July 11, 2020. James was born on March 31, 1960 in Wurtzburg, Germany. He is the son of JT Gentry and Loretta and Doug Horton.
James is survived by his wife Peggy Gentry, his daughter Katie Gentry, his sons Jeremiah and Tanner Gentry (wife Breck Gentry), and his step daughters Chelsea Brewer (husband Jimmy Brewer) and Maggie Albert. He also leaves behind his sisters Carolyn Gentry, Laura Mullis, and Paula Talley. James will be missed by his grandsons Jax and Leo Blackmon who lovingly referred to him as "Duke". He was also known "Punkie" to his nephew Tracy Mills (wife Ashley and children Elias and Willa), Nicole Jordan (Ashton, Kiah, and Nevaeh), and Chris Jordan. He is reunited with his father JT Gentry, his nephew Thomas Mills, and his brothers-in-law Mike MacGregor and Mike Mullis.
James had a personality that could not be matched. He was a supportive and loving husband, a caring and encouraging father, an adoring grandfather, protective brother, loyal son, and a “Spunky Unkie Punkie.” He was an avid college football fan who loved the Carolina Gamecocks, he rooted for the Kansas City Chiefs, and he enjoyed playing golf. He retired from the Physical Plant Services at SCDMH in 2018 and worked part time at the Country Club of Lexington. James lived life the way he wanted with no explanations and no excuses. He had balls and ankles of steel and a middle finger he loved to share.
