Obituary of Diane Carpenter Swann

Diane Carpenter Swann, 67, of Lexington, wife of John Swann, passed away peacefully at her home on March 3, 2020 with family by her side.

Born October 9, 1952 in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Morton and Violet Stallings Carpenter. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and the University of South Carolina where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education and spent her thirty-three year career shaping and nurturing young lives into adulthood. She was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church where she was a member of the SON Circle and Friendship Sunday School Class and truly enjoyed being a part of the kitchen ministry preparing and serving meals. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose joyful spirit, generosity, and dedication to the service of others impacted all those around her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John Swann of Lexington; two daughters, June Swann of Lexington and Jessica Swann (Glenn Timmons) of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Alden and Lou Timmons; two sisters, Brenda Perry (Nelson) of Prosperity, SC and Sheila Davis of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Joel Carpenter (Marlene) of Monroe, NC and Don Carpenter of Gold Hill, NC and a number of nieces, nephews and loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Turner and Nancy Tucker.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, March 6th at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with the Reverends Kevin Cooley, Dr. Gerald Watford and Meredith Dark officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM in the Family Life Center prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leigh Curry and members of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church building fund. The family would like to extend a special thanks to church family and friends for their love and support.
