Obituary of Angus Guy Scoggin
Angus Guy Scoggin, 77, husband of Ruby Hutchins Scoggin, resident of West Columbia, SC, passed away on January 13, 2020, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born June 3, 1942, in Spindale NC, he was a son of the late Hulen Paul and Mattie Lee Barnes Scoggin. He was a graduate of R.S. Central High School. He received an associate's degree in diesel technology and was employed with Overnite Transportation as Fleet Service Manager. After retiring, he enjoyed his "hobby-job" working for Southeast Ace Hardware. He was an Army National Guard Veteran where he served in the Mobil Artillery Unit. Guy was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church for many years. While a member of Mt. Hebron, he was very active in the United Methodist Men’s group and was proud to serve on the Annual Bar-B-Que committee. Guy lived life to the fullest, loved deeply, his wife Ruby of 52 years. He cherished the time he shared with his children, grandchildren, great grand children, and his extended family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Anthony Scoggin; his daughter, Christy Scoggin, both of West Columbia; six grandchildren, Madeline, Adrian, Nikki, Tyler, Nicholas and Amber; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Analydia Scoggin; numerous loving cousins, sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Howard Scoggin and Leslie Scoggin.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, January 16th at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church at 2 PM with Dr. Charles Westbrook and Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2 PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Scoggin, Adrian Scoggin, Nicholas Gunn, Jeff Hutchins, Jamie Hook, and Kevin Fitzgibbon
The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials do so to Saluda River Baptist Church or Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.
