Agnes Campbell Arnette

November 12, 1928 – August 4, 2019

Agnes Campbell Arnette, 90, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019, surrounded by her family.  Born in Marion, South Carolina, on November 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Rogers and Vernon Campbell.  She was a Godly woman and prayer warrior who loved her Lord, her family and her friends unconditionally. She graduated from Marion High School and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop College in 1949.  After college graduation, Agnes taught at Lake View High School, was a loving homemaker and stay-at-home mom to her five children and later retired from the SC Federation Center for the Blind in Columbia, SC.  In 1951 she married the late Albert Jerome Arnette, Sr. of Lake View, SC.

She is survived by her five children:  Martha Arnette (Barney) Watts of Lizella, Georgia; Albert Arnette, of Leesville, SC; James Arnette of Lizella Georgia; Sarah Arnette (Tony) Templeton of Columbia, SC; and David (Rachel) Arnette of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Al Arnette of Gilbert, SC, Caroline Arnette (TJ) Asbill of Leesville, SC, David (Rachel) Templeton of Lexington, SC, Hannah Arnette of Greenville, SC, Joseph Arnette of Greenville, SC, and Joy Arnette of Greenville, SC.  She was also loved by three great grandchildren:  Johnathan Templeton, Selah Templeton and Natalie Grace Templeton all of Lexington, SC.  In addition she is survived by her brother Jerry (Marilyn) Campbell of Marion, SC, her brother-in-law Wade Arnette of Moncks Corner, SC and sister-in-law Ellen Arnette Herring of Aiken, SC.  She was also loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Mrs. Arnette was preceded in death by her half sister Leo Jernigan Causey of Charleston, SC.

A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel on Tuesday, August 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 7 at Lake View Cemetery in Lake View, SC at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Tony Templeton, Al Arnette, David Timothy Templeton, TJ Asbill, Ben Black and Keith Herring.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Arnette, Reese Campbell, Josh Hughes, Billy Griffith, Jeff Ferguson and David Belton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ambroziak and Heartstrings Hospice of Columbia, SC, especially Mrs. T and Cody (The Dream Team) and Kristin for their wonderful and compassionate care for Agnes as well as Sarah and Tony Templeton for their daily love and care of Agnes for the last fourteen years.
